Salvaged Frigate Modules are materials you need to unlock upgrades for your freighter in No Man’s Sky. Unlike Salvaged Data you’ve likely encountered before, the Salvaged Frigate Modules are much harder to come by.

There are multiple ways to get Salvaged Frigate Modules in No Man’s Sky, with the method you choose likely depending on your playstyle. You can get them peacefully by completing Guild missions and locating crashed freighters using Transmission Towers, or you can do some pirating and get them by force.

Here’s every Salvaged Frigate Module source in No Man’s Sky:

  • Frigate expeditions
  • Derelict freighters
  • Crashed freighters
  • Civilian freighters
  • Space station missions
  • Nexus missions

The chances of getting a Salvaged Frigate Module from these sources are quite low. Missions that have Salvaged Frigate Modules are very rare, and out of around 20 Frigate expeditions, I only got one or two Salvaged Frigate Modules.

The best way to farm Salvaged Frigate Modules is to unleash your inner pirate and travel to a pirate-controlled system to raid fleets. Freighters and nearby Cargo Pods have a chance of containing the Salvaged Frigate Module.

Get close to the ship or the pod and hover over it to see the contents. Freighters have multiple pods, so make sure to check all of them. Find a pod with a Salvaged Frigate Module, open fire, and destroy it. In pirate systems, you still lose standing with a corresponding faction when attacking a freighter, but you don’t get disturbed by Sentinels.

After you’re done with one fleet, use the Pulse Engine to fly away and spawn another. You can also pick up outlaw bounties (missions) on the space station that often involve attacking freighters.
