It’s the best way to level up your Fishing job, though. It also gives you interesting rewards for reaching score milestones and earning achievements, like the shark minion and mount. You can only do this activity at specific times, starting every two hours in Limsa Lominsa.

When Ocean Fishing, players join a matchmade party on a ship that sails to three different fishing spots. You can obtain different fish at each location, and you need different bait. Then, you’ll earn a score depending on the number and quality of fish you caught. Here’s how to unlock Ocean Fishing in FFXIV.

Unlocking Ocean Fishing is a fast process. You simply need to complete the introductory quest for the Fishing job. You can do this by picking up the quest called “Way of the Fisher” in Limsa Lominsa’s Lower Decks (X: 7, Y: 14).

Then, follow the quest’s steps. When you’ve equipped your fishing rod, you can keep track of the job quests by clicking the quest tracker at the top-left corner of the screen.

You only need to go to the correct dock at the right time to go Ocean Fishing. If you haven’t arrived at the right time, the NPC will tell you the next boarding time. The dock is located near the Arcanist’s Guild Aetheryte, at the Ferry Docks. You’ll see a character that manages fishing routes, and another who can sell you bait for a low price.
