In Marvel Snap, it’s not always about the cards that players can use to win games. The unique thing about the game that sets its apart from other digital cards games is the existence of the locations.
Some locations in the game are hard to deal with. But most of the time, locations provide certain possible advantages that can be used by players. One of those is the Cloning Vats location, where players get additional copies of cards that they will play there to their hand. And in the case of Reddit user TittyMitty11, they used Cloning Vats to build their own army of Sunspot which became a creative and impressive strategy to help them win.
As seen on the gamer’s post on Oct. 23, they played Sunspot on Cloning Vats as early as turn one. This resulted in having a total of six Sunspot copies, three on two separate locations (Cloning Vats and Great Web). But what’s even more amazing is how they used Sunspot as a weapon to create massive Power, especially since the gamer just relaxed and played nothing for the rest of the game.
For those who don’t know, Sunspot is a one-cost, zero-Power card that gains Power equal to his user’s unspent energy per turn. The gamer did not specify which turns they did not play cards. But after they created the setup of having three Sunspots on two locations, they managed to create huge chunks of Power for the six Sunspots by just opting not to play more cards until the end of the match.
The Sunspots the player used had five, nine, 12, 14, 15, and 15 Power, respectively. This paved the way for their eventual victory in the end after out-Powering their opponent 32-28 in Cloning Vats and 38-15 in Great Web.
The post already garnered over 600 upvotes, as well as praises from fans because of the creativity of the strategy. “This is definitely the most skill-intensive strategy I’ve ever seen. Beautiful work pulling it off so expertly,” one user said.
The gamer only managed to get two cubes from the match despite the win. But what they did was more than eight cubes’ worth to be honest, since they risked the fact that a single Killmonger by the opponent could have killed all the Sunspots in one blow.
Still, the Sunspot strategy was a clear display of how players can take advantage of the locations in Marvel Snap, especially in making unpredictable plays like this one.
