Since the Legends of Runeterra World Championship was announced in February, several changes have taken place. Initially, the team had removed Seasonal tournament broadcasts from the schedule but announced the return of broadcasts in May following feedback from the LoR community. Additional paths toward Worlds were also added via a total of four Seasonal tournaments.

  • Feb. 16 to May 24: A Curious Journey Seasonal
  • May 25 to July 19: Worldwalker Seasonal
  • July 20 to Aug. 30: Forces from Beyond Seasonal
  • Aug. 31 to Oct. 11: Darkin Awakening Seasonal

Players from around the globe can qualify to compete at LoR Worlds 2022 via either the Ranked ladder, tournament points earned at Seasonals, and through a top-four finish at an LoR Seasonal tournament. This is the second LoR World Championship. Team Liquid Alanzq earned the first Worlds title last year.

LoR Worlds format and dates

Leading up to the Darkin Awakening Seasonal, Riot released a full breakdown of the format and dates for the Legends of Runeterra 2022 World Championship. Unlike Worlds 2021, Riot added new spice to the 2022 LoR World Championship.

The LoR Worlds schedule includes regional qualifiers that will take place on Nov. 19. Prior to the qualifiers, a Worlds balance patch will drop on Nov. 9. A total of 16 players from all regions will advance to the Worlds Finals, scheduled to take place from Dec. 8 to 10. And dropping on Dec. 7 is the final Darkin expansion that will get featured at the 2022 Legends of Runeterra World Championship—with competitors gaining early access prior to the tournament.
