In a strange turn of events, Team EnVyUs has picked up two mid laners for their NA LCS roster. Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer, Fnatic Academy’s former mid laner, and Choi “Pirean” Jun-sik, Phoenix1’s former mid laner, will both be joining Envy for the upcoming Summer Split, according to ESPN.
Over the past few weeks, the two mid laners have been bootcamping with the rest of Envy in South Korea, along with FC Schalke 04’s mid laner Marcin “SELFIE” Wolski. Pirean and Nisqy both made the final cut, with Nisqy being the primary focus. Pirean was likely added to the roster as well due to visa issues with Nisqy—he has not acquired his P-1A athlete visa yet, and it’s required if he wishes to compete in the United States.
It’s likely that if Nisqy’s visa problems are resolved, he’ll be the starting mid laner for Envy for the split, which kicks off in June, reports ESPN. This will be Nisqy’s first time competing in North America. His former team, Fnatic Academy, was promoted from the EU CS to the LCS, forcing Fnatic to sell the team, as the organization already has a team in the EU LCS.
Envy finished the last split at an abysmal three wins and 15 losses, performing worse than any team in the league. Ultimately, the team was relegated from the NA LCS, and were then forced to compete in the promotion tournament to reclaim their spot. Fortunately, they ended up winning their LCS slot back, but it was a new low for the organization, being their worst split in the NA LCS to date.
Change is needed, and that’s why they’re bringing in two new mid laners. Nisqy performed very well on Fnatic Academy, and he played an integral part on the team during their climb into the EU LCS. He’s fresh, new talent to the league, and Envy needs that. Pirean isn’t as flashy as Nisqy, but he’s still a solid mid laner, and his time on Phoenix1 proved that. Either Nisqy or Pirean would be a welcome sight on Envy. Hopefully the team can work with these new mid laners to make the Summer Split less tragic.
