The ranked season runs longer than usual this time around.

The end of the League of Legends ranked season, and more specifically, the final days of 2023’s second split, are rapidly approaching as the holidays loom.

Instead of a singular season from January to November, Riot Games divided League’s ranked experience into two splits this year. The first split of 2023’s ranked season ended on July 17 and the second split started shortly after, on July 19.

Since this is a new format, League’s ranked enjoyers might have some questions about the length of the second split of 2023 and their campaign to break out of Bronze. Will it be extended into 2024 so it’s as long as the first split or will the second split simply be shorter than the first?

Here’s when the League 2023 Split Two ranked season ends.

What is the end date for League’s ranked 2023 Split Two?

The second split of League’s 2023 season is now slated to end on Tuesday, Jan. 9 and the 2024 season will begin on Jan. 10. Ranked matches should be available until around 3am CT, which is when most competitive splits have wrapped up in League.

League 2023 Split Two was originally expected to end closer to the end of November—we had tentatively circled Nov. 20—but Riot has since pushed it back several weeks.

Here’s a timer you can watch as you play, for added pressure:

Riot made this change because there is a huge subset of competitive League players who “only play ranked and nothing else.” For these ranked-oriented grinders, the game’s calendar basically had a two-month black hole in the lead-up to the holiday season where they regularly took time away from playing.

This new extension will also carry into 2024, where three League splits will begin in January, May, and September so ranked stays open all year round.

What this means is you have a bit more time to grind for that next rank and the rewards that come with achieving your goals. Riot issued an interesting Victorious skin for Anivia for the first ranked split of 2023 and Tryndamere is getting the Victorious skin for the second—though that skin’s release will be delayed until Patch 14.4 in 2024.

Then, once the 2023 season wraps up, League ranked players will be thrown into a new world on Summoner’s Rift as the game undergoes some of its biggest changes.
