League of Legends is turning 15 in October, and Riot is making sure to give the game its biggest birthday yet. But in this celebration, players are the ones getting the gifts with an event called Player Days.

October 2024 is set to be a memorable month in LoL history—looking back with stories and returning Legacy skins, and looking forward with new skins and freebies. More reveals are to come in a Dev Livestream Q&A that kicks off the event, at 4pm CT on Oct. 9, but here is what we know so far.

One of the main attractions of the party is the 10-day anniversary mission track, featuring a new reward every day until Oct. 28. Those rewards include icons, emotes, essence of all types, and even an exclusive Mythic skin complete with its own border and icon.

To get all the free goodies, you must log in daily and play at least one match, or simply make sure you log in and play 10 matches by the last day.

Riot knows that it takes a lot of community-building work to get a game to last this long. Players must feel connected and valued to remain invested, all while still having fun and feeling challenged in the gameplay itself. And to those playing League from the early years, the game has become a part of them. They have stories to tell. Maybe they met their best friends while playing, or maybe gaming has helped them get through a difficult time in life. Who knows?

Well, Riot wants to know, and they want us to know about it, too. Part of the celebration includes “real player stories” from all over the world, told in their own languages and featuring illustrations by community artists. Expect to laugh and get emotional.

The three first days of the celebration are set to be dedicated to specific categories of fans and aspects of the community:

  • Day one, Oct. 9: Creative Day, celebrating “creators, cosplayers, artists and imagination”
  • Day two, Oct. 10: Music Day, celebrating “music, musicians, stans and ~vibes~”
  • Day three, Oct. 11: Esports Day, celebrating “competition, champions, tryhards and diehards”

In addition to the free goodies, the League store is bringing four new skins—including a K/DA Superfan Gragas—focused on those three aspects of the community. And to make it all better, Riot is giving 100 percent of the proceeds to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund (“a donor advised fund account sponsored by ImpactAssets”). They are also matching three times that amount out of their own pocket.

A number of Legacy skins are set to return to the store for a limited time as well, but nothing more was revealed about that yet. Maybe it’s time for one of those classic Harrowing or Storybook skins to return, hopefully.

This October is certainly set to be a month that us longtime League fans can’t miss.
