While League of Legends Patch 14.22 introduced Ambessa and a number of balance changes, even more changes to champs are coming with the release of Patch 14.23.

The previous major League update made dozens of changes to the game, and the case is no different with Patch 14.23. Three powerful champions are up for staggering changes to their kit, given how overpowered they are in both solo queue and professional play. Riot is also updating how specific systems and items work. You can learn more below.

What’s in LoL Patch 14.23?

Significant tweaks to Aurora, Rell, and Smolder

It’s fair to say reading the changes to these three champions alone will take up more of your time than anything else in Patch 14.23. Riot has made changes to Rell, Smolder, and Aurora for a similar reason—they’re too overpowered among pro and skilled players. Looking at the stats, that is partially true, except for Smolder, who has a win rate below 50 percent in Master and above rankings, according to U.GG. Phroxzon underlined the changes were aimed more at the pro play than anything else.

Each of these champions will be seeing almost each of their abilities updated. There are too many of them to predict how these will pan out in the end.

Ambessa gets her first balance update

Ambessa is the latest champion to grace players with her presence on the Summoner’s Rift. The mother of Mel Medarda, known from Arcane, was added to League on Patch 14.22. Each new champ is hit with balance changes shortly after they arrive in the game, so seeing Ambessa receiving the same treatment is all but surprising.

Fortunately for those who play a lot of Ambessa, she won’t be hit with too many updates. The developer outlined how the champion “is in a pretty decent spot right now and we’re giving a bit of time for her skill growth to catch up.” Nevertheless, looking at the stats, she will need either buffs or players to catch up with her complex kit in the near future. Ambessa currently boasts a horrible 46.79 percent win rate, according to U.GG.

Riot continues to modify the way Bounties work

A handful of other champions and items will also receive minor changes. Riot is also continuing to tinker with the Bounties system. It won’t be a huge update for them this time around, though. Champion bounties will grow significantly faster from kills and assists but drop much faster if the team starts to lose the game.
