League of Legends Patch 14.16 continues Riot Games’ heavy focus on the bot lane, with the developers eager to get everything squared away in the Rift’s southern battlefield before the 2024 World Championship begins.

In League‘s first August update, the developers are making waves on Summoner’s Rift by addressing the strongest ADC systems and the season 14 metagame that revolves around having a marksman in every lane. On top of that, they’re trying to solve the top lane by making major changes to death timers, so it’ll now take longer to revive.

And, of course, in the skin department, it’s a celebration of the League world champions T1, with the reigning kings of the title’s esports circuit getting their pro play variants.

Here’s everything about League Patch 14.16 update.

When will League Patch 14.16 go live?

League Patch 14.16 will go live on Wednesday, Aug. 14, aligning with the current 2024 League Patch schedule.

Here are all the key patching times for Patch 14.16:

  • 3pm CT (NA)
  • 5am GMT (EU West)
  • 3am CET (EU North East)
  • 8am KR (Korea)

On update day, you can anticipate several hours of downtime. As always, matchmaking will be turned off across all League queues three hours before the update.

What’s in League Patch 14.16?

“Strictly weak” League champs get helping hand

The guiding light for buffs in this patch, Riot Phreak explained on Aug. 6, is to help champions who’ve been “strictly weak in solo queue.” This includes several ever-popular characters like Orianna, Syndra, Sylas (more on him later), Vi, Skarner, Wukong, and Azir. Riot’s also happy if they show up in pro play, but the focus is on queue play rates.

Senna’s stats to receive support rework

Senna is being pushed into more of an Enchanter build over the Lethality focus many players have been using on her in season 14. Riot has identified this as a mistake, especially because she’s now slumped to a lowly 48 percent win rate; the devs are trying to make her work better alongside ADCs—and win more in the process.

Riot backtracks on Sylas nerfs

Riot is backtracking on Sylas’ recent nerfs in Patch 14.16 after the mid lane mage was nerfed nearly to the ends of the earth in League Patch 14.15.

Since Patch 14.15, Sylas has suffered a major blow to his win rate, which is currently sitting at a low 48.51 percent according to the League stat tracker U.GG. It was at 50.87 percent an update before, in 14.14, so it’s clear the nerfs really did a number on him. The devs now expect these rollback changes to help him a little.

Dying introduces new death timer punishments

Dying on Summoner’s Rift will now have harsher punishments in League’s early stages, with death timers being increased by four seconds from levels one to eight. There will also be a two-second extension added on at level nine.

The purpose of these changes is to make early lobby deaths more punishable. So, be on the lookout for those level one invades and early lane ganks.

After their phenomenal win at the 2023 League World Championship, T1’s Worlds skins are finally here in Patch 14.16, with five T1 skins and one Prestige T1 skin—the latter of which celebrates Zeus’ performance as the finals MVP at the Gocheok Sky Dome. Here are all the new skins in this patch:

These T1 skins will go live during the Patch 14.16 cycle.
