The League Friends app for Android and iOS now features articles from both the League of Legends website and the game’s esports site.
When users open the app they are automatically directed to the new section. In it, they can find updates about the game, such as the week’s free champion rotation, as well as esports content like the weekly edition of The Penta, a video showing the top five professional plays from around the world during that week. Riot produces weekly esports content, though The Penta is the only one not geared toward North American or European LCS viewers.
Released two years ago, the app was initially marketed as a way for players to chat even when not at their computers. The ability to talk to clubs and view your match history were added about a year ago, and since then the app has not seen any major updates.
While the News section will not make the app a must-download for most players, it’s still a convenient feature for those who already use it. Some recent announcements include the patch notes for 8.14, which introduced a new cursor and nerfs to gold funneling. Just think, now all this information is right at your fingertips with the new League Friends update.
