League of Legends Patch 14.15, set to arrive later this week, is only getting larger as Riot Games developers have revealed that 10 champions will receive balance changes in Arena alongside the addition of new Augments and Prismatic items.
Riot game designer Mike “RogueFool” Breese detailed the extra LoL Arena balance patch in a weekend X (Twitter) post on July 27, with buffs coming to a range of ability power champs including Corki, Xin Zhao, Jarvan IV, Leona, and Alistar. Malzahar’s AD build will also be given a boost, while Volibear, Morgana, Mordekaiser, and Singed drew the short straw and will be copping nerfs.
RogueFool said the balance patch was light, as much of the team’s focus had been on the new content coming with 14.15. The designer also said that buffs to the above champs were focused on their alt builds specifically and won’t necessarily apply to the character in general. Items Trinity Force and Luden’s Companion will also receive a small buff, with exact values for these buffs expected between now and the patch release date on Tuesday.
It comes as no surprise to see the likes of Volibear and Singed targeted for nerfs, with the two ahead significantly in pick and win rates according to stats site METAsrc. Both are recording middling win rates but are almost always scoring top-two finishes, with Mordekaiser trailing by a couple of points. On the flip side, the champs selected for buffs aren’t necessarily underperforming, but players are only leading into the one build, with AP thrown to the wayside in most cases.
Continued patches are all part of Riot’s plan for sustainability for the game mode after devs noted they were incredibly pleased with how Arena and Swarm have been received since their respective launches. Even though these adjustments are “light,” you can be sure Riot will be keeping an eye on champ strength following this week’s update.
