Europe can’t handle justice. It’s been hardly a week since reworked Kayle hit the Rift, and frankly, we’re not sure if she’s actually good yet. But the LEC is still taking her off the playing field.
This is a pretty odd rule for a new champion—we can’t remember the last time a new or reworked champion was disabled just because. But according to LEC commissioner Maximilian Schmidt, that’s exactly what they’re doing to Kayle:
New Kayle does present some pretty interesting challenges to game balancing. She’s so strong at level 16 that if a team can get her there without losing the base, it immediately flips the game state.
But there are other champions like this. A farmed Jinx is nearly impossible to stop late game. And in terms of pure power among reworked champions, both Aatrox and Urgot spent considerable amounts of time running the meta after their changes. Given that the late game scaling Kayle has was intended by Riot’s design team, it will be interesting to see when, and for what reason, she is enabled for the LEC.
Sylas being disabled is old news. He has game-breaking bugs on his W and ultimate, and Patch 9.6 is the earliest he’ll be tuned. He probably won’t be seen back in pro play for a few weeks at the least.
But those pining for justice do have an option this week: Reworked Morgana is available. Of course, she has mostly the same kit as old Morgana. But she is one half of the aspect of justice—half measures will have to do in the LEC this week.
