Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, the lead game balance designer, has shed some light on what the devs are working on, and Gangplank is one of the champions the team have under their scope.

Phroxzon said that the devs aim to ship Gangplank changes in Patch 12.13. The dev team had planned to release the changes in time for Patch 12.12 but wanted to take some extra time to consider. “We think we have a direction, but want to take some additional time to validate,” Phroxzon explained.

Gangplank is a champion that has been constantly looked at by Riot this season. In patches 12.1 and 12.7, he received minor buffs. But he was also hit by changes made in the durability update.

The devs reduced the healing ratio from his Remove Scurvy in Patch 12.10, since every healing in the game was hit with the nerf hammer. While Phroxzon didn’t explicitly say whether Gangplank’s upcoming changes would be buffs or nerfs, the former option is much more likely considering his 48.22 percent win rate in the Platinum division and above, according to stats site U.GG.

With Patch 12.13 four weeks away, players will have to wait a little longer for the changes to be made to the pirate.
