Arcane, the Emmy-nominated animated series based on League of Legends, was a smash hit in its first season, prompting Netflix and Riot Games to renew the show for a second season. But when will season two come out?

When will Arcane season 2 be released?
On Nov. 9, 2023, Riot Games confirmed during Netflix’s Geeked Week that Arcane season two has a tentative release date of November 2024. The exact date has not been given just yet, but having a specific timeline is very exciting news for fans who have been waiting for the last two years.
The first season of Arcane was initially slated to debut in 2020 but was pushed back due to constraints surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. As soon as Arcane’s first season wrapped up on Nov. 20, 2021, a second season of the show was announced. Additionally, it was confirmed the follow-up is already in production.
With the second season’s workflow expected to be far more stable at both Riot and Fortiche Production, the animation studio behind Arcane, it seems like it took half the time to create season two compared to the first. Many fans likely hope we’ll get an official Arcane season two release date soon.
What will Arcane season 2’s story be?
The story of Arcane season two is still unknown, although it’s almost certain it will continue to revolve around Piltover and Zaun.
During the closing moments of the announcement teaser for Arcane season two, the disembodied voices of Jinx, Caitlyn, and Vi can be heard, implying their stories will be continued in the upcoming season. Additionally, the first season of Arcane ended on an intense cliffhanger, likely meaning the first season’s story will receive some level of closure in season two.
Arcane’s co-creators, Christian Linke and Alex Yee, also described the story in the second season with two words: “War” and “Rubicon.” Although the first word is relatively straightforward, the word rubicon is used as an idiom meaning they are crossing the point of no return. This could be a heavy hint toward a destructive collision between Zaun and Piltover soon.
Still, that’s not to say other regions of Runeterra won’t be explored in the second season. While it’s most likely Piltover and Zaun will continue to be at the forefront, other regions like Noxus and Demacia could be touched upon. Last season, Noxus was teased in some aspects, particularly through the storyline of Mel Medarda.
Is there a trailer for Arcane season two?
In 2022, Riot dropped a 15-second teaser revealing the second season’s production; a year later, the team revealed the season’s premiere date. On Jan. 5, 2024, Riot released the first trailer for Arcane season two with new footage of the upcoming season, showing fans a glimpse of what the story might evolve around. Specifically, there was one popular fan theory that seems to have been confirmed. Further details should be revealed in the upcoming months.
