Two Korean star players will look to revive their careers in the EU LCS after a string of disappointing performances with their respective teams in 2017.
Kim “Profit” Jun-hyung, formerly of Ninjas in Pyjamas and SK Telecom T1, and Jin “Blanc” Seong-min, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and Jin Air Greenwings, will join Team ROCCAT for the 2018 season, according to a report by INVEN Global earlier today.
Profit was part of the NiP roster that joined the EU LCS in the 2017 Summer Split. The team was unsuccessful in its return to the EU LCS and finished last in the group. The team then failed to win promotion back to the EU LCS in the 2018 EU LCS Spring Promotion Tournament, meaning NiP dropped down to the EU Challenger Series.
Blanc spent 2017 on the roster of PSG, playing with the team in the EU Challenger Series. Blanc was unable to help PSG make it into the EU LCS. PSG left the League of Legends scene entirely on Oct. 5.
ROCCAT finished fourth overall in both the Spring and Summer Splits in the EU LCS last year. The team won enough games to guarantee its survival but never really challenged the top teams enough to look like a international quality team.
This might not be the only move ROCCAT make this offseason. The team might also be looking to sign a new bot lane, as ADC Petter “Hjärnan” Freyschuss and support Kim “Wadid” Bae-in are joining G2 Esports according to a report by ESPN.
