Soul Hearts are items found on dead players in Dark and Darker and are required for the downed player to be resurrected. The Soul Heart is cleverly hidden in the game and you will need to remove the Chest Armor from a player’s corpse to reveal the Heart. Then, once you have the Heart in your inventory, you can resurrect the player by taking the Heart to an Altar of Sacrifice.

There you will perform a brief ritual which can be interrupted if you are attacked or moved, so make sure to clear the room before trying to revive a teammate. When revived, they will be exceptionally low on HP, so put that into the calculation as well to ensure a successful revive and post-revive.

On the other hand, if you are a Cleric or have one in your group, you can revive the downed player but only if the Soul Heart is still on the body. If removed, the player can no longer be revived unless their heart is taken to the Altar of Sacrifice we’ve mentioned above. Altars of Sacrifice have a fixed location on each map, so make sure you remember the layouts of every map iteration to quickly locate the Altars and bring your friends back to life.

Removing a Heart can only be done to teammates so don’t bet on preventing enemies from reviving themselves.
