The False Son is one of two secret characters in Risk of Rain 2’s Seekers of the Storm DLC and is arguably one of the most challenging characters to get due to its reliance on RNG.

Not only do you need to find and beat a secret boss added to the DLC, but you also need to find an item with a slim chance of spawning throughout the many areas you spawn into. It can be tricky if you don’t know where to go and what to do, so let us guide you through everything.

To get False Son in Risk of Rain 2, you need to partake in a series of steps. Like the Chef survivor, you must own the Seekers of the Storm expansion and have it downloaded and active on your playthrough.

First, you must find and beat the special boss Aurelionite, which you can only find by activating an Altar of Gold, a randomly spawning structure in any run phase. Doing so will spawn a Gold Orb, and after beating the Teleporter boss, you can go through a Gold Portal to reach the Gilded Coast.

Here, you need to activate seven pillars to spawn and beat Aurelionite. Once defeated, he drops the item Halcyon Seed, which you must pick up before leaving the area.

Your next goal is to complete a full loop to return to the first map all over again. From here, you can find a green rod called a Halycon Shrine, and by feeding it gold, you can spawn a mini-boss you must beat to spawn a Green Portal. Entering this portal takes you to the Reformed Altar area.

You must go through multiple Green Portals in the next maps until you encounter the Flase Son secret boss fight. Defeating the boss with the Halcyon Seed unlocks the False Son survivor.
