What initially appears as a harmless Butler sweeping the floors of the Lethal Company Facilities, quickly transforms into a Puppet Combo nightmare as he whips out his Kitchen Knife, ready to strike any lone travelers.
The Butler is a creature in Lethal Company that resembles a twisted version of a stereotypical household servant. While the Butler behaves like the Spore Lizard, its threat level skyrockets once he realizes that you are wandering the dark corridors of the Facility alone. With no one to hear you scream, the Butler moves in, swapping his broom for a knife and entering into a crazed frenzy.

How to deal with the Butler in Lethal Company
The Butler is an interesting new addition to the Lethal Company Bestiary. With his somewhat docile behavior and Little Nightmare chef appearance, the Butler can appear almost human as he walks across the Facility, cleaning his mess. But this monster primarily attacks those who are inside the Facility and alone. To add, the Butler likes to attack if you stop paying attention to him. It won’t attack if you are in a pair or with a full party unless you attack, or bump into it first. While this is helpful if the Butler spawns in the Mansion’s lobby, it won’t save you if you later split up or get lost inside the Factory’s labyrinth.
Be sure to have some kind of weapon on you if the Butler catches you alone. A simple Yield or Stop-Sign counts, alongside getting the Nutcracker’s Shotgun or buying a Shovel. Surprisingly, the Butler can be killed with a single Shovel hit if you’re alone with him, dealing blunt damage that immediately knocks him onto the ground. On average, it takes four Shovels hits to kill the Butler in its docile state. If the Butler falls, his head will pop, sending out a swarm of Mask Hornets (similar to the Circuit Bees).
Contrary to popular belief, the Butler can open doors. If you cannot explore with other players, avoid the Butler so he keeps sweeping. Immediately exit the Facility if he starts chasing you. This will reset him, forcing him to conceal the knife, and return to his sweeping. If the Hornets are activated, you only need to worry about retreating to another area as you can outrun the swarm. It’s important to note that the Hornets only hover around the Butler’s clothes, so be sure to choose a location you don’t need to frequently walk through if you decide to take out the Butler.
The Mask Hornets won’t despawn once they are activated, but you gain those precious seconds to find the Kitchen Knife that sits next to the Butler’s clothes (where you killed him).
Where to find the Butler in Lethal Company
The Butler can spawn on various Moons, making it a threat similar to the Nutcracker. You can find the Butler on:
- 8-Artifice Moon
- 7-Dine Moon
- 20-Adamance
- 85-Rend
Typically, the Butler will spawn in pairs, making it all the more difficult to evade him. Dine has the highest spawn rate of this monster, where five Butlers can spawn in at once. You should try to keep him passive by staying in a group. Of course, this isn’t a viable strat for solo players like myself.
You should resist hitting the Butler as the Mask Hornets are far harder to evade than the humanoid version. The Kitchen Knife isn’t worth it for solo players as it currently cannot kill Thumpers or Bunker Spiders. If you want the Kitchen Knife to easily kill Nutcrackers however, be sure to kill the Butler in an enclosed area, and far from the Main Entrance or Fire Exit.
