How to get a Mandrake in Hogwarts Legacy

Ow, my ears.

Hogwarts Legacy lets players use certain magical plants like Mandrakes and Chinese Chomping Cabbages to defend themselves. These items are also tied to quest progression and spell unlocks, so figuring out how to get Mandrakes and Venemous Tentacula is especially important in the early game.

If you’re struggling to figure out where to find Mandrakes, you’re not alone. Attaining these plants stumped me for a good portion of my playthrough, especially because I didn’t want to shell out the money for their seeds at Dogweed and Deathcap.

Here is everything you need to know in order to get Mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy.

Where to find a Mandrake in Hogwarts Legacy

The first time you’ll get a taste of gardening is in Professor Garlick’s Herbology class. Players will get to rip a Mandrake out of its pot and transfer it to another. From then on, you’ll be able to spot a Mandrake in the ground in your travels throughout the magical landscape.

The best place to find Mandrakes in Hogwarts Legacy

For those looking to find free Mandrakes in the wild, this guaranteed spawn is the best method I found.

  1. First, head into the Forbidden Forest.
  2. There’ll be a small home, as shown on the map above, and after fighting a few undead characters lurking around the house, you’ll spot a big tree.
  3. Next to said tree, there’ll be a corpse with a note explaining the final minutes of their life, but next to the body will be three Mandrakes.

How do you buy and plant Mandrake Seeds in Hogwarts Legacy?

You can also buy Mandrake seeds and grow them yourself from the Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade. They’ll set you back 800G, but you can grow them as long as you own a potting table.

You can then head to the Room of Requirement and grow your own Mandrake there to either use for the quest or for battle. Remember that there is also an achievement associated with the Mandrake for stunning a large group of enemies at once so be sure to hold onto one for such an occasion.

There you have it, now you can use them to deafen your enemies. Just make sure you wear earplugs; they have a tendency to yell.
