Meta Check is a weekly series exclusive to our members. We share what decks Team HSP is currently playing and the meta that we each were up against.
Team HSP constantly strive for and hit Top 100 Finishes each season and we’d like to share the knowledge and the decks that we use during our climb with you.
Be sure to check out our Monthly Meta Deck section to see what decks are being played and the guides for it!
This week we will also feature some decklists we’re looking to build as soon as The Grand Tournament lands – so come check it out and maybe build it yourself and give it a try too!

This is the final season of 2015. What’s your current rank and what decks are you laddering with?
Top 50 on NA, Rank 8 on EU. On NA I climbed up with a mostly standard Patron Warrior list except that it runs 2 Shield Blocks and 1 Shield Slam.

With less just a week to go, are you qualified for Blizzcon in your region or Last call?
I’m qualified for last call and I’ve been working really hard at theorycrafting, deckbuilding and most of all practicing to get the most edge I can for the tournament 🙂

What decklist will you be trying out as soon as The Grand Tournament lands on August 24th?
So this is a Pirate Rogue based on a lists that I’ve had moderate success with even before playing with TGT cards. The idea behind the deck is that the current rogue lists are a little weak for my liking as its draw mechanic: Sprint is only moderately better than Lay on Hands. The reason why this is such a problem is that rogue is a deck that relies heavily upon spells to control the board which generally results in a card deficit. Getting board control is great, but if you don’t have the consistent minion draws to follow-up , you’ll fall behind on board just because your opponent can run you out of resources (often seen in matchups such as druid where you simply can’t answer all their threats). Pirates rogue allows you to run more minions to curve out, while also controlling the board with cards like Ship’s Cannon. With the addition of the Sky Cap’n, pirates rogue will have a minion with a solid body that also can serve as removal. Another new card in this list is Shady Dealer. Pre-TGT I was running Edwin Van Cleef, but I think this card could very well replace him. On their own they have average stats (4/3 for 3) but if you manage to get the effect off, a 5/4 for 3 is insanely strong and I’m really excited to play with it.

This is the final season of 2015. What’s your current rank and what decks are you laddering with?
I’m floating around rank 5/ rank 6 right now mainly playing a standard Midrange Zoo because its consistent and fast.

With less just a week to go, are you qualified for Blizzcon in your region or Last call?
I have 15 WC Points on NA, so it’s nearly impossible for me to get the automatic spot into regionals, that being said, I’m still playing in a ton of tournaments and will continue to up until the last call in order to get a clear idea of what I’ll be seeing. The ladder meta will be helpful to know too, but the tournament meta will be very different, and I’m sure the last call tournament will be completely different from most tournaments.

What decklist will you be trying out as soon as The Grand Tournament lands on August 24th?
This is the deck I’ll be experimenting with. I’ve always enjoyed playing Grinder Mage. It has enough interaction early game with mad scientists and explosive sheep, and has a great late game with threats like Dr. Boom, Ragnaros, and in some cases Majordomo. Post TGT I see this archetype going away from the majordomo style, and into a more hero power oriented plan. In many cases you are heropowering in the mid game to be mana efficient, so Inspire and hero power based effects will fit perfectly.
Nexus Champion Saraad is the earliest of threats for the deck at the 5 mana slot, and that is really good because its effect is so strong he has a pseudo taunt. In some matchups you can slam this on 5, in more attrition based matchups you’ll want to play it on 7, but it’s very versatile and will be a good addition to the deck.
Frost Giant is something I’m super excited about, it’s almost a free giant by the time you get to the late game, and is great bait for a BGH or Polymorph.

This is the final season of 2015. What’s your current rank and what decks are you laddering with?
Around Legend 200 on both servers, I’ve mainly been playing Handlock, Midrange Druid and Patron Warrior. The metagame is stagnant, so I just try to improve my play with the best decks.

With less just a week to go, are you qualified for Blizzcon in your region or Last call?
After missing two times Top 20 at the last-minute my chances of qualifying directly have evaporated, so I’ll have to play the last call tournament. We shouldn’t be overexcited about it because there’s a long way to go until Blizzcon, but I’ll try my best.

What decklist will you be trying out as soon as The Grand Tournament lands on August 24th?
This is the deck I’ll be testing. Control Dragon Warrior is already a solid deck which will be even stronger after TGT. Cards like Alexstrasza’s Champion and especially Twilight Guardian only strengthen the deck. I feel like a big taunt for 4-mana, which also contest Piloted Shredder, is the perfect defensive minion for any type of Control Warrior. As a result, I hope to see this archetype gaining a lot of popularity after TGT.

This is the final season of 2015. What’s your current rank and what decks are you laddering with?
Legend on both servers. Just waiting for TGT to drop playing some Druid – pretty standard list.

With less just a week to go, are you qualified for Blizzcon in your region or Last call?
I still need that last point, so I am taking part in every tournament I can this week and for the rest of the month. (Lost in Round of 128 in TNH, lost on Round of 128 on Strivewire too)

What decklist will you be trying out as soon as The Grand Tournament lands on August 24th?
I’ll be trying out Dragon Druid. This list will change after TGT is released when we will know how good each card really is performing. The spot of Harrison is more flexible one. Also could cut a copy of Living Roots if there’s no aggro in the meta.
