Hello everyone, MrShine here with a tournament video that’s a little different. If you’ve been around the Hearthstone scene for any length of time you may have been exposed to one of the various constructed tournaments out there. These events bring some of the best players Hearthstone has to offer together, and are a lot of fun to watch.
As an arena player, I’ve noticed a distinct lack of tournament content for Hearthstone’s alternate game mode. Sure there have been some attempts to host an arena tournament, but they’re few and far between, not to mention the focus has been on player popularity, not necessarily player skill.
That’s something I’m hoping we can change, and this past month I’ve had the privilege of working with some other infinite arena players, organizing matches between them and recording the results. This video is the result of our most recent tournament prototype, something we hope to expand in the future.
Tournament Structure
In this video, three top level arena players ADWCTA, Educated Collins, and Ratsmah came together and participated in a small round robin tournament. Each player drafted a deck using www.hearthstoneopen.com as the drafting platform, and turned that draft into a constructed deck. From there, they proceeded to play one another, each using these ‘arena’ decks they just assembled. The event was streamed live, and commented on by Merps (co-host of the ‘Arena Coop with ADWCTA) & Shengster, operator of the www.hearthstonecoaching.com website.
This video is a VOD of that tournament, combining audio from the streamed event with post production editing on my end. Hopefully if you’re a fan of the arena you’ll enjoy this video, and stay tuned for more as we plan bigger and better things for the future of the event.
