Bronze is one of the more difficult resources you have to track down while playing Hades 2, since it doesn’t naturally appear in the underworld. It’s a resource mortals use on the surface, forcing you to look beyond your traditional locations to find it.

Although some of your weapons and items require Bronze, don’t expect it to appear early on in your playthrough of Hades 2. You’ll find more of it as you make your way through the story, and it won’t appear on the traditional path you need to follow if you intend to save the Hades family from the titan, Chronos.

You can only find Bronze by visiting the surface and going to Olympus in Hades 2. There’s a barrier preventing you from getting to this location at the beginning of your playthrough, but you can eventually complete the Permeation of Witching-Wards, which requires you to find the Shadow resource and complete the steps below:

  1. Defeat Scylla, the final boss in Oceanus.
  2. Speak to Hermes.
  3. Speak to Hecate at the end of Erebus to unlock the Permeation of Witching Wards incantation.

After you complete the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation in Hades 2, the barrier to the surface opens up and you can make your way to this region. It’s a new area to explore, with various resources, items, and enemies to defeat. But you can only stay up there for a short time. Here’s how to complete the Incantation.

Pemeation of Witching Wards
1x Cinder
1x Shadow
3x Moly

Those born within the House of Hades can’t survive on the surface, and you’ll be forced back down to the underworld due to getting hit by multiple attacks until you complete the Unraveling a Fateful Bond incantation, which stops the constant damage you take on the surface. I highly recommend completing this incantation as quickly as possible using these resources:

Unraveling a Fateful Bond
2x Nightshade
2x Moss
2x Thalamus
2x Lotus

The resource you want to track down should have a small pile of worn-down metals on the corner of the map with a distinct brown tint. Approach them and you should be able to begin collecting this resource.

Like Silver, Bronze has three pieces you can grab before the deposit dries up. And, similar to Silver, the only way to collect Bronze is to make sure you use the Crescent Pick to harvest it. If you don’t bring it, there’s no way to get Bronze in Hades 2. Make sure to return to the surface often if you ever need it.

What is Bronze used for in Hades 2?

Bronze has several uses in Hades 2, though it’s primarily used for unlocking and upgrading Nocturnal Arms and Gathering Tools. The first time you will likely need Bronze is to unlock the Agent Skull weapon, which requires a single piece of Bronze.

Bronze becomes extremely important once the Aspects of Night and Darkness incantation has been concocted, which enables you to upgrade your main weapons and Gathering Tools at the Silver Pool. If you haven’t done this yet, I recommend making it top of your to-do list.

Five Bronze and one Nightshade are required for the Aspects of Night and Darkness incantation, which results in a permanent unlock in the Crossroads hub. One cast, you can now choose between one of three Weapon Aspects for each of your Nocturnal Arms.

Many of the Weapon Aspects require Bronze to unlock them, including the Aspect of Moros for the Umbral Glames and upgrading the Aspect of Melione for the Moonstone Axe, while Bronze is also needed to upgrade certain Arcana cards.

You will also need Bronze for certain incantations at Hecate’s Cauldron and, as Hades 2 is an early access game, there’s always the chance Bronze will be required for new things added in the future.
