It’s been a long time coming for a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, and the wait may finally be coming to an end for all of those looking forward to the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is still one of the more popular titles in the gaming world, but players have been longing for a new entry in the franchise since GTA 5 was released all the way back in 2013.
On Feb. 4, 2022, Rockstar announced “active development for the next entry” in the GTA series was “underway,” but the studio didn’t have much to offer beyond that. The wait for more news felt impossibly long.
Finally, after years of anticipation, on Dec. 4, 2023 Rockstar Games dropped a trailer for GTA 6 a day early (after the video leaked earlier in the day). And now, we finally have some idea about when players can expect to get their hands on the actual game.
Here’s what we know about the trailer and the official GTA 6 release date.
When does GTA 6 come out?
Rockstar has only confirmed one part of the GTA 6 release date. All we know is that the game will be coming in 2025. Though some fans may be disappointed by a 2025 release date instead of a 2024 one, the trailer looks fantastic so far, giving the hope of high-level production. Considering the level of detail that goes into the GTA series, a longer development process could mean a smoother experience for fans when the game is finally released.
When will we get a GTA 6 release date?
The GTA 6 reveal trailer was scheduled to release on Dec. 5 at 8am CT. Rockstar confirmed the date and timing in a post on X on Dec. 1. However, after the trailer leaked, Rockstar responded by releasing the official version on Dec. 6 at around 5pm CT.
The trailer offers the first official look at the highly anticipated sequel in one of gaming’s most successful franchises, igniting excitement for players around the globe.
Outside of speculation, that’s all there is to know so far about the GTA 6 release. This article will be updated with more information once it becomes available.
