It’s taken longer than expected, but action RPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink is finally out. This doesn’t mean development on the game has ended, though, as Cygames has a full roadmap of post-launch content.

Although the main story is fairly short for an RPG, Granblue Fantasy: Relink’s post-game content and achievements list are bound to keep you occupied. If that still isn’t enough for you, you’ll be pleased to know Cygames will update the game with additional content.

At the time of writing, Cygames only has updates scheduled until May 2024, both paid and free. Although Cygames seems to be teasing that even more updates will follow suit. As of right now, the Granblue Fantasy: Relink roadmap is planned to include the following updates:

  • Lucilius boss fight
  • Seofon and Tweyen
  • Sandalphon

Granblue Fantasy: Relink’s first post-game update comes in the form of an optional quest for you to complete, solo or in co-op multiplayer. You may want to round up some allies for this one, as Cygames promises it’ll be one of the most difficult quests in the game: a boss fight against Lucilius.

The name will mean nothing to you if you’re unfamiliar with the original Granblue Fantasy mobile game. But you may recognize him from the fighting game spin-off Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising, where he’s a secret boss character and DLC fighter. All you really need to know about Lucilius is that he’s one of Granblue Fantasy‘s biggest villains and a godlike being who tried to destroy the world before he was defeated and sealed away.

His quest, The Final Vision, is a simulation of the final battle against him, recreated for Relink’s action-RPG gameplay, and it will require all the skills you’ve gained throughout your original playthrough of Granblue Fantasy: Relink. The quest was added to the game on March 14, and you can view the 1.1.0 update patch notes here.

The Lucilius Quest is a free download, but Cygames has released some paid bundles alongside it as well. These bundles are:

  • Emote Expansion Set: Let’s Chat—Contains three new emotes: Rock Paper Scissors, Shadowbox, and Inspire (costs $1.99)
  • Self-Improvement Pack 1—Contains Stronghold V Sigil, 10 Gold Spellbooks, five Ambrosia, 10 Glittercrystal Clusters, and 25 Gold Dalia Badges (costs $2.99)
  • Weapon Uncap Items Pack 1—Contains Potent Greens Sigil, 10 Damascus Ingots, 10 Glittercrystal Clusters, and 25 Gold Dalia Badges (costs $2.99)
  • Weapon Upgrade Items Pack 1—Contains War Elemental Sigil, 500 Large Fortitude Crystals, 10 Glittercrystal Clusters, and 25 Gold Dalia Badges (costs $2.99)
  • Sigil Upgrade Items Pack 1—Contains Flight over Fight Sigil, 10 Azurite’s Splendor, 10 Glittercrystal Clusters, and 25 Gold Dalia Badges (costs $2.99)

Seofon and Tweyen: Two new playable characters

Relink already has an extensive list of characters you can play as, most of which you unlock with Crewmate Cards. Cygames plans to add two more in a single update—Seofon and Tweyen. Both these characters are members of The Eternals, a legendary band of skyfarers who each specialize in a single type of weapon.

Seofon is the leader of the group, and like various other party members, he wields a sword, but he also has the ability to dual-wield blades. Tweyen, meanwhile, fights with a bow and a set of magical arrows. Seofon will specialize in close-range combat, bombarding enemies with a combo of powerful attacks. Tweyen will protect your party from a distance using her assortment of magical arrows, each with its own special effect. Cygames has shared brief snippets of their gameplay over on X/Twitter; you can view Seofon’s here and Tweyen’s here.

Both characters will also probably get their own Fate Episodes to explain their backstory and motivations. Their inclusion is scheduled for April 2024. The two characters will be available for free; you’ll just need to meet certain in-game requirements to unlock them, although there will be an option to add them to your party straight away by paying real money. Other paid content is planned as well, but there are no further details at the time of writing. Presumably, there will be more bundles containing items for upgrading your characters and weapons and new emotes.

Sandalphon: A third playable character

After initially keeping details of Granblue Fantasy: Relink‘s third update a mystery, Cygames has confirmed it will introduce another playable character: Sandalphon. Known as the Supreme Primarch and a primal beast that can command archangels, he’s a big deal in the world of Granblue Fantasy. His inclusion makes sense considering he’s one of the most popular characters in the original mobile game, starting out as one of its main villains before going through a redemption arc and joining the heroes.

No details or footage have been shared regarding his playstyle, but Sandalphon is slated to arrive in May 2024. Like Seofon and Tweyen, he’ll join your party either by meeting a certain requirement or by just paying real money for him. In addition, there will be more, currently undisclosed paid bundles.

While no new updates have been detailed past May 2024, it’s safe to assume Cygames still has further plans for Granblue Fantasy: Relink. A new showcase for the game is scheduled to air on April 25, as confirmed on X/Twitter, which promises “another round of Relink announcements, insights, and more!” Whether this means even more playable characters, boss fights, and maybe even new story content is up for debate, but we’ll be sure to update this article once Cygames shares exact details.
