The addition of new characters in Genshin Impact is always consistent but has seemed to be even greater since the arrival of the Version 3.0 Sumeru update. And although the Version 3.1 update is not too far away and promises the addition of three new characters, Genshin players are already looking to the future beyond that.

After all the leaked information and speculation, Layla was at last officially unveiled by miHoYo on Sept. 26. Layla arrived with the line, “half-awake, half-asleep, all incredulous” to describe her.

Prior to her official reveal, those in the Genshin leak community discovered quite a bit of information in regard to this character, so here is a complete breakdown of everything that has been uncovered about the mysterious Layla thus far.

Who is Layla in Genshin Impact?

Layla is an upcoming character who is a student of Rtawahist Darshan, which is one of the six main schools of the Sumeru Akademiya, and specializes in studying Theoretical Astrology. A Genshin Impact leaker who regularly correctly discovers what’s to come in Genshin’s future detailed that Layla is quite studious in school and does very well but has to work “extremely hard” to do so due to her insomnia that has her mind “constantly all over the place.”

Before she was unveiled, those who had seen Layla likened her appearance and model to the five-star Cryo Sword character Kamisato Ayaka. Now that she has been revealed, those who said this appear to be somewhat right as Layla certainly has some similar features but also boasts her own unique blue and gold-themed appearance.

What element is Layla in Genshin Impact?

Leaks and comments from those who have uncovered her information indicate that Layla prior to her reveal speculated that she would be a Cryo Sword character. MiHoYo’s official reveal confirmed that she is in fact a Cryo character, but her weapon still remains unknown.

What are Layla’s abilities in Genshin Impact?

Outside of her being a suspected Cryo Sword character, it is unknown what her skillset will look like. Players can likely expect something similar to existing Cryo Sword characters with some kind of unique twist to distinguish her from them.

As is also almost always the case with barely unveiled characters, Layla’s star rating is entirely up in the air. But due to her surfacing, reappearing, and being unveiled alongside the Dendro Archon Nahida, it is quite likely that Layla will be a four-star character who appears alongside five-star Nahida on her special featured banner.

When will Layla arrive in Genshin Impact?

Layla could arrive as soon as Version 3.2 if she is indeed meant to appear alongside Nahida. The same reliable Genshin leaker who uncovered information about Layla’s personality believes that she will indeed arrive in Version 3.2.

Considering that miHoYo has now officially unveiled the Cryo character, her arrival in Version 3.2 seems even more likely. If Layla does not arrive in Version 3.2, players can then expect to see her sometime before the waves of Version 3.0 updates come to an end.
