10 Genshin Impact characters that have gone the longest without a rerun banner

Which Teyvat characters are on the waiting list?

The unique characters in Genshin Impact are one of its biggest selling points. Generally, new characters launch with every update, and old ones sometimes resurface. However, if you haven’t seen a favorite banner in a while, it might be because 10 characters haven’t had rerun banners in over nine months.

While Genshin gives every five-star and four-star character banner reruns, some are more common and frequent than others, whether because they’re more popular and, thus, profitable or because of their unique skillsets, rich storylines, general aesthetic, or powerful skillsets.

As Genshin comes with a gacha system to get these characters, it generally takes players quite a lot of time, luck, and sometimes money to obtain their desired characters. And if any of these characters are your favorites, you’ve been waiting a long time for their banners to return.

10) Dehya

Dehya is considered a reasonably decent Pyro Claymore user in Genshin who was released on March 2, 2023, where players could wish for her on the ‘Auric Blaze’ banner from March 1, 2023, to March 21, 2023.

As she is one of the more recently released characters, she will unlikely return soon. However, when she does, she is a fun option to add to your team if you’re looking for more of an off-meta squad, and she has a unique gameplay style you’ll either love or hate.

9) Ningguang

It may have been 10 months since we last saw her, but Ningguang always leaves an impression. Released on Sept. 28, 2020, Ningguang has had 10 reruns, with her last on the ‘Moment of Bloom’ banner from Feb. 7, 2023, to Feb. 28, 2023.

Sadly, we don’t know if she will be returning soon, but I hope she is because, for a four-star, she’s an incredible DPS character, and her kit is easy and fun to use.

8) Xinyan

Since her launch on Dec. 1, 2020, Xinyan, the spunky Pyro Claymore user, has had seven reruns, with the last being on the ‘Invitation to Mundane Life’ banner, which ran from Jan. 18, 2023, to Feb. 7, 2023.

As she is considered low on the tier list, we are unlikely to see her return anytime soon. But she’s fun, has unique voice lines, and is one of those characters you have on your team to make you smile. And if you don’t have her, I wouldn’t worry too much as she has made several reruns and is likely to be seen more.

7) Xiao

Xiao is an Anemo Polearm user who first launched on Feb. 3, 2021, and since his release, he’s had four reruns. The latest rerun was shy of a year ago during the ‘Invitation to Mundane Life’ banner from Jan. 18, 2023, to Feb. 7, 2023.

As he is considered to be one of the best characters in Genshin at the moment, many, including me, are hoping he makes a return shortly because he’s one character everyone needs to have on their team.

6) Kujou Sara

Kujou Sara, released on Sept. 1, 2021, is a four-star Electro bow woman we haven’t seen since the ‘Azure Excursion’ Banner from Dec. 27, 2022, to Jan. 17, 2023. However, she has had a rerun at least once every year. So, while we may not see Kujou Sara in the next few patches, we may see her return sometime in 2024. But she is a four-star character and considered A-tier, so she may not return until late 2024.

5)  Raiden Shogun

Inazuma’s almighty Electro Archon is Raiden Shogun, a five-star Electro Polearm character who is the fifth most due for a banner rerun. The last installment of her ‘Reign of Serenity’ banner aired from Dec. 27, 2022, to Jan. 17, 2023, immediately following the conclusion of Itto’s banner rerun.

This means Raiden Shogun’s last run was nearly one year ago. Despite this, she is an Archon, so she’ll probably be back sooner than any average recruit.

Raiden Shogun is returning in the second half of the Version 4.3 update from Jan. 9, 2024, to Jan. 30, 2024.

4) Gorou

Released on Dec. 14, 2021, Gorou has had three reruns, which isn’t too bad for the courageous and trustworthy General. However, he last appeared during the ‘From Ashes Reborn’ banner, which went from Dec. 7, 2022, to Dec. 27, 2022; it’s officially been a year since we last saw him.

Sadly, though, as he is a four-star character, it’s doubtful we’ll see him anytime soon unless something in the meta changes, and we need more Geo Bowmen on our team.

3) Arataki Itto

The dauntless and daring Geo Claymore character, Arataki Itto, has gone several patches without a rerun. Travelers saw the third rerun of his ‘Oni’s Royale’ banner run from Dec. 7, 2022, to Dec. 27, 2022, which means he has been unobtainable for almost a year.

Compared to some of the other recruits on the waiting list, Itto has hit the one-year mark since his last banner rerun, which means it will likely be some time before he has another run of his “Oni’s Royale” banner.

Current speculation indicates he may return in Version 4.5, but we’ll have to wait and see since this patch is still a ways away.

2)  Albedo

Albedo first debuted on Dec. 23, 2020, and has only had three banner runs since. The last run of his ‘Secretum Secretorum’ banner occurred from Oct. 14, 2022, to Nov. 1, 2022. Unfortunately for Albedo wanters, the Geo recruit has so far not surfaced in any upcoming leaks for the near future.

This means it is highly likely he won’t return until at least a few updates after Version 4.4 begins. There were speculations for this Geo character to make a return in Version 4.2, but this is purely based on him being due for a rerun, and sadly, he isn’t making his much-needed return in Version 4.2 or 4.3.

1) Tighnari

Tighnari, the stern Chief of the Forest Rangers, is a playable Dendro character specializing in the Bow. Unfortunately, he’s also the character who hasn’t had a rerun banner for 14 months or returned at all since he was released on Sept. 28, 2022.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem like Tighnari will be returning anytime soon. Hopefully, he’s on the list for Update 4.4 and onwards.

Can you predict when Genshin characters will return?

Unfortunately, there is no way to predict exactly when Genshin characters will return. Still, Travelers can take into account which five and four-star characters have gone the longest without receiving a featured banner rerun because these are the most likely recruits to return with an increased drop rate sometime soon.

However, just because these characters have gone the longest without a rerun banner doesn’t necessarily mean they’re more likely to return. It’s simply up to the MiHoYo team to decide which characters would be ‘best’ to make their return.

Hopefully, we will see these characters return to Teyvat in 2024.

We gathered the banner rerun information from HotGames.GG.
