The Batman Arkham universe is expanding in a very unique way this year with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The online co-op title takes place five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, in a war-torn Metropolis that has been invaded by Brainiac. The supervillain has some new super-powered henchman, and it’s none other than the Justice League themselves.

That’s where the Suicide Squad comes in. The foursome of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark has been designated as Task Force X and given the unsavory mission to, you guessed it, kill the Justice League.

The haphazard villains must group up and use their abilities to take down the greatest heroes the DC Universe world has ever known. And it’s all done in third-person shooter fashion, with some stellar graphics and hilariously pithy dialogue.

After being up in the air for several months following a delayed original release date, we now finally know exactly when Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release.

When does Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League come out?

During Sony’s State of Play livestream event on Feb. 23, Rocksteady Games revealed the final release date for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as May 26, 2023. But a little over a month before its scheduled release date, the co-op game suffered from yet another delay.

The current release date for the game has now been pushed to Feb. 2, 2024.

Along with the since-changed release date and a trailer, the State of Play showing also showed off some extended gameplay from the game, featuring the four anti-heroes taking on a giant Brainiac-robot boss while attempting to rescue Lex Luthor from The Flash.

If that sentence sounded weird, it should. Lex Luthor is a bad guy, but so are the main characters of the Suicide Squad, so things are a little bit backward.

The footage also revealed glimpses of the rest of the Justice League, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and others. It’s a who’s-who of the DC Universe’s superheroes and supervillains alike.

Given that this was the first extended look at gameplay, fans of the universe were eagerly anticipating just what the co-op third-person shooter looked like. As expected from the makers of the Batman Arkham series, the game looks incredible and is guaranteed to be fun with a good group of friends.

The only decision left now is to decide who gets to play as who. All of the anti-heroes have their own abilities, gear, weaponry, and personalities, so it’s probably worth playing with your own squad at least a couple of times through.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
