PUBG might eventually come to PlayStation 4 after all

Don't give up hope, PS4 owners.

Microsoft struck a blow in the console war during this year’s E3 with the announcement that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was coming exclusively to console on Xbox One. But a recent development might throw a wrench into those plans.

A report from UK publication Daily Express claimed that PUBG wouldn’t be coming to PlayStation 4, after the game’s appearance at Microsoft’s press briefing at E3.

Now, though, a clarification from a Bluehole Studio spokesperson is adding hope for PS4 owners (and other consoles) that the game might eventually come to other platforms, according to GameInformer.

Xbox One PUBG announcement at E3

“We’re excited to announce that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS is coming to Xbox One,” Bluehole’s statement read. “We’re always looking at various platforms to potentially introduce our game, but have nothing further to announce at this time.”

That statement has a much different tone from the E3 announcement video above. It appears now that the proverbial window is open for PUBG to potentially come to other platforms one day, and the 60 million-plus selling PS4 is the most logical destination.

Bluehole recently announced that PUBG sold four million copies on Steam early access in just three months, and it became the second most-watched game on Twitch.

Right now, it appears that PUBG’s exclusivity to Xbox One may just be for a certain period of time.
