PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has reached four million sales in early access in just three months since its release, the game’s developer announced.
After its release to Steam early access on March 23 of this year, PUBG blew up. Thanks in large part to its popularity on Twitch, the battle royale game hit one million sales on April 10, three million sold on May 2, and three million in the beginning of June.
Now at four million, the pace seems to somehow still be picking up. Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene confirmed the news on Twitter.
PUBG has sat or near the top of Steam’s best sellers list ever since it released, and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing its momentum any time soon. PUBG consistently sits in the top five games live on Twitch, and with constant updates furthering the game’s quality, it doesn’t seem like it will go away any time soon.
The development team at Bluehole Studio has promised and planned weekly updates as well as larger content-based updates every month. The game will soon be coming to console exclusively on Xbox One, so further funding from Microsoft will only help it in its development journey from early access to full release.
