Secret Level is an all-new animation TV series dropping on Amazon Prime Video in December focused mainly around telling new stories from video games. Because it looks so much like smash-hit animated anthology Love, Death, and Robots, many eager gamers are questioning whether these two are related somehow.

Secret Level and Love, Death, and Robots are completely separate series with different storylines. One is going to tell video game stories while the other is based on unique narrative ideas all chosen by the animators.

They are connected though; One of the Blur Studio founders, Tim Miller, created Love, Death, and Robots. Now, Blur Studios is working in conjunction with Amazon Studios to create Secret Level. So, they’re tied together through the studio. They also share similarities in that they’re both anthology series, meaning each episode is a standalone story.

Love, Death, and Robots focuses on science fiction, fantasy, and horror with everything from robots to the ratpocalypse. Secret Level will contain stories inspired by popular gaming franchises. Some making it into this show, at least in the first season, include Armored Core, Dungeons & Dragons, God of War, PAC-MAN, and Warhammer 40K.

As Secret Level was only just announced during the Gamescom Opening Night, we don’t know much about the exact stories and whether they’re canon or not, or if there will even be a second season, given that the first is expected to have 15 episodes. However, what we know so far is that you’ll need a Prime subscription to watch this series when it releases in December, and each episode is inspired by a different video game.
