Cross-play is a huge feature nowadays because players have multiple quality options to play their games. Some prefer to invest in a gaming PC, while others remain truthful to consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox and always buy the latest generation. Having a cross-platform feature allows players to join their friends who are playing on a different platform.

If you’re eager to enjoy some GTA 5 action now that the title is back in the Game Pass catalog, find below if you can play with friends who game on different systems.

Is there cross-play in GTA 5?

In the current version of GTA 5, cross-platform play is unavailable. Those who own an Xbox can’t play with others who own a PlayStation or PC, and you can’t play with your friend on a PlayStation 5 if you own a PlayStation 4. One exception to this rule is those who play on Epic Games can play with those on Steam and other PC platforms. All PC servers are the same, so you can play with other PC players no matter where you bought GTA 5.

Unfortunately, Microsoft didn’t include GTA 5 in the Game Pass catalog for PC, meaning if you wish to play with friends who have the game on PC, you’ll have to buy it on Steam or Epic Games.

Will GTA 5 eventually get cross-play?

Do not keep your hopes high for any cross-platform play in the future. GTA Online has had many updates over the years, but none of them have added cross-play. With all the GTA 6 leaks we had in the past months, it’s clear that Rockstar is actually focused on developing the new game instead of adding quality-of-life changes to GTA 5.
