What to expect from Summer Game Fest Live 2023 showcase

It has already been confirmed the show will include the world gameplay reveal of Mortal Kombat 1, a look at gameplay from the recently announced Alan Wake 2, a trailer for The Witcher Season 3: Volume 1, and gameplay from EA’s Immortals of Aveum. It’s also been confirmed that the showcase will feature a full gameplay reveal for Baldur’s Gate 3 and a first look at Call of Duty Warzone season four content and at Fortnite Wilds (AKA Chapter Four season three).

Keighley’s close relationship with Hideo Kojima may lead to an appearance of Death Stranding 2, while PlayStation’s involvement as a partner just a few weeks after its own showcase a few weeks ago has led to hope we could finally get a release date.

Personally, I’m hoping for TT Games to announce its next LEGO game, some details about EA’s Iron Man title, and GTA 6.

The biggest announcements from Summer Game Fest

Mortal Kombat 1 new gameplay trailer and story info

The first look at Mortal Kombat 1‘s gameplay features impressive assist fatalities and options while fighting your foes. It gives the blood-soaked fighting game an extra dimension that should be a hit with fans. There’s also another hint in there that Sub-Zero and Scorpion will team up in the newest game, as opposed to fighting each other endlessly.

Lies of P finally gets a release date

The kind of magical, sort of mechanical world of Lies of P was featured in a new trailer during the show, showing off gameplay and some more of the game’s eery world. It also finally has a release date: Sept. 19, with a demo now available to play.

Spider-Man 2 release date, box art, and Venom revealed

Spider-Man 2 will get an even bigger dose of symbiote than previously thought when the PlayStation Showcase trailer showed Peter Parker wearing the iconic black suit. New art also revealed Peter and Miles Morales doing battle with Venom, who looks like he’ll also be in the game—but no the Eddie Brock version, as devs revealed.

The game will be released on Oct. 20, squarely in the holiday release window.

Marvel Snap‘s new game mode, Conquest, is coming next week

There’s a new game mode coming to Marvel Snap, Conquest. While designer Ben Brode didn’t reveal too much about the new mode, it’s sure to pique the interest of Snap players itching for new content.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is revealed

A brand new trailer was released for one of the year’s most anticipated titles, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Cloud Strife and the gang are back for an epic adventure through beautifully-rendered worlds, and Sephiroth is waiting for them.
