A new festive Star Path, further tool enchantments, character skins, and so much more awaits players, but perhaps the most exciting addition of all is Stitch is also arriving as an unlockable character.

The tiny blue alien from Lilo & Stitch has long been expected to make his way into Disney Dreamlight Valley thanks to his prominent role in the original key art for the game and his resurgence among the list of upcoming leaked characters.

With an update already packed with Toy Story content and two new recruitable characters, a third one certainly shocked players and gave them quite a nice holiday surprise.

Now that the December update for Disney Dreamlight Valley has been released to all players, many are wondering how they can recruit the titular character from Lilo & Stitch. While many characters are found locked inside Realms that cost Dreamlight to open, this is not the case with Stitch who is, at least for now, arriving without a Realm to go with him.

His missing friend Lilo is expected to arrive later on and players thus may still see a Lilo & Stitch Realm in the future. The latest Star Path also features a Jumba Jookiba motif which could mean even more characters from the film may also arrive with a realm later on.

For now, players can focus on attaining Stitch.

How to unlock Stitch in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first thing players will want to do is comb Dazzle Beach until they come across a Slimy Stocking. It will be blue, sparkling, and look like a pile of goop but appears to spawn randomly anywhere on the beach. Picking it up will start “The Mystery of the Stolen Socks” quest, which tasks them with finding the villager who owns the Slimy Stocking.

The quest icon features Donald Duck’s face and the stocking has the initials DD, so players will want to talk to him. Upon giving the stocking back to Donald, he will remark it has “bite marks and spit all over it” and looks like someone “tried to eat it.”

This, of course, sounds like the work of the pesky blue alien from Lilo & Stitch, but Donald doesn’t remember Stitch due to the Forgetting and thinks a thief must be on the loose; many items from his house have gone missing. Donald also mentions he has seen “a bunch of funny lights streaking across the sky” over the past few nights, but he doesn’t remember Stitch and instead deduces it must be the work of a “sock-stealin’ UFO.”

After Donald’s rambling, he will then ask players to search his house for clues to figure out what is going on. Players will need to clear out the debris within Donald’s house to then find a Strange Device.

Donald and the player will investigate the device and it will then tell them a DNA match is 33 percent complete. The duo will then decide this means they need to gather more of the DNA by finding more samples around the valley.

Players will need to wait until they are able to find more missing socks. Donald mentions that he’s only seen the strange lights in the sky every few days and that players will thus need to wait to find more of the slimy socks.

The machine starts at 33 percent and needs to reach 100 percent to be complete, so most players first believed that this meant the rest of the quest would take about three or four days to complete with new quest pieces appearing each day.

But this quest is actually much more spread out and will take players around 11 days to complete in total. When Stitch was first released, no player was able to attain him right away because 11 natural days of gameplay needed to pass before he would be unlockable. But one Reddit user quickly shared a full breakdown of the rest of this quest after using the dangerous method of time-traveling in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Now that 11 days have passed, all players know that what the one Reddit user said about attaining Stitch is in fact true. But all players will have to wait 11 days from the moment they pick up the first sock regardless of when they begin seeking to attain Stitch as this is simply how his quest works.

Players eager to attain Stitch might be considering time travel, but this is an extremely risky endeavor that players should not attempt unless they are willing to face potential issues and game-breaking bugs. Thus, the best way to attain Stitch is to simply be patient and wait the full 11 days to get him.

Completing the first part of this quest, which is attaining the previously mentioned Slimy Stocking, is essential because the 11-day duration of this quest won’t begin until players have completed the first piece of it in its entirety.

After completing the first part of this quest, players will then need to wait five days for the next slimy item to appear. It will always be a slimy sock that players find, with the second one appearing at a random location in the Peaceful Meadow biome.

The second Slimy Stocking that players find will belong to Goofy and this piece of the quest will thus require players to find him. Once players locate Goofy, they’ll then need to converse with him to learn that he has also been noticing the strange lights in the sky and has been having his items stolen as well.

Players will then need to clean up the trash piles around Goofy’s house to find Blue Fur. This item needs to be taken back to Donald Duck, who will use it on the Strange Sevice and will then complete the second piece of the quest.

Another five days must pass before players can move on to the third part of the quest to attain Stitch. This part is called “Built to Destroy” and players will be looking for another Slimy Stocking to appear in the Forest of Valor biome.

This belongs to Merlin, so players will want to return it to the wizard and speak with him about the strange occurrences. Merlin will reveal that he has had items go missing too and players will once more need to clean up his house to gain another clue.

The last clue will be a Mysterious Claw that needs to be returned to Donald Duck and the Strange Device once again. The DNA match will be complete and players will now be able to move into the final stage of recruiting Stitch.

How to complete the “Initiate Landing Protocol” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After players have completed all other parts of this quest, the final phase called “Initiate Landing Protocol” will begin. Players will need to place the Strange Device down by Skull Rock which will then summon Stitch’s spaceship to crash there.

Stitch will appear and players will need to converse with him. After talking with him about the situation for a bit, players will decide to build him a home. Once this home has been placed and purchased from Scrooge McDuck for 10,000 Star Coins, Stitch will then officially join Dreamlight Valley as a permanent resident.
