All players wishing to join The Binding of Isaac: Repentance online multiplayer beta must own the Repentance DLC for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, confirmed by the Oct. 12 announcement. Once you own the Repentance DLC for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, you can opt into the beta by following these easy steps:
- Right-click on the title in your library.
- Select Properties.
- Go to the Betas tab.
- Type the beta key into the Private Betas box and click the option “Check Code.”
- Click the button “Opt in to [beta branch name].” You should then see the [beta branch name] in the Betas Participation box in the same tab.
- Your game will update, and the next time you launch it, you’ll see a prompt to read and accept, which will show you the “online beta” screen.
Before entering the beta, please create backup copies of their saved data files in a separate saved folder. This ensures you don’t lose your progress if the game has bugs or issues.
When does The Binding of Isaac: Repentance online multiplayer beta start?
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance beta’s first password was announced on Twitter on Dec. 1, 2023. So, as long as you’ve followed the steps above and got the password or beta code, you can join the beta starting Dec. 1.
According to a Steam post on Nov. 29, The Binding of Isaac: Repentance beta will be “online” for two weeks of each month and then will be taken “offline” for two weeks for improvements. This cycle will continue until the devs feel it is ready for its official release at the end of 2024.

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance online multiplayer beta platforms have been confirmed and will only be available on PC via Steam. This might be because Steam also provides a function for private betas that can only be accessed via a code.
The Repentance DLC is currently available on consoles including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S—but the multiplayer beta will not be arriving on these platforms.
