League of Legends’ Championship Series is promising epic matchups this week, and none are more exciting than games featuring Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming.
Despite both being tied at 4-2, it’s clear who has the upper hand heading into the match between Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming. Cloud9, the champions from the spring split, have higher KDA and gold income stats. However, a closer look at objective control reveals some startling stats. On the red side, not only do CLG get first blood over 60 percent more often that Cloud9 on blue, but they get the first tower 50 percent more often as well. This could be closer than it appears.
While most Cloud9 members do seem to have a slight lead in comparison stats, they do have a weakness. Mid laner Hai Du Lam, whose injury sidelined him from the Paris All-Stars last month, falls behind as the game goes on. Meanwhile, CLG’s mid laner, Austin “Link” Shin, who subbed in for Lam during his absence, only gets stronger. When we compared the two during the substitution, they appeared fairly even. But so far this season, Shin has a sizeable lead, and is over 3 KDA higher over the course of the season. Is Lam still feeling the effects of his illness? If so, CLG might surprise everyone and come out on top for this one.
In the end, Cloud9 has the advantage heading into the match. Despite Lam’s illness, the rest of the team look as good as they ever have, and CLG will have to either seriously step up their game or pray for a miracle if they want to come out on top in this one.
