Disney Dreamlight Valley has a pattern of introducing updates and not sharing all the information about what is included within them. This is likely due to the desire to surprise players with unexpected additions; the devs mentioned in the notes for this update that they hide many “surprises” with more to be unveiled in the future.

One such surprise is the unique Festive Fish associated with a secret task that players can complete to earn a special holiday item. The secret task can be found under the “Village” category on the Dreamlight page and is called “Even Fish are Festive!”

All Festive Fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are five festive fish in total:

  • Festive Anglerfish
  • Festive Bass
  • Festive Fugu
  • Festive Salmon
  • Festive Squid

All five of the available Festive Fish are variants of already existing obtainable fish. Four of them are wearing Santa hats for the holiday season, while the Festive Anglerfish has a mistletoe atop its antenna.

How to catch Festive Fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley

All five Festive Fish are specific to one biome in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

  • The Festive Anglerfish can be obtained by fishing at the Forgotten Lands biome.
  • The Festive Bass can be obtained by fishing at the Peaceful Meadow biome.
  • The Festive Fugu can be obtained by fishing at the Dazzle Beach biome
  • The Festive Salmon can be obtained by fishing at the Sunlit Plateau biome.
  • The Festive Squid can be obtained by fishing at the Glade of Trust biome.

While the information about where these fish can be found has been listed within the fish collection page in Disney Dreamlight Valley for some time now, these fish and the task associated with fishing them only became doable recently.

How to complete the Even Fish Are Festive! task in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To successfully complete this task and claim the holiday reward at the end, all players will need to do is catch one of each unique Festive Fish type. This is fairly easy with the Festive Bass, Festive Salmon, and Festive Squid, but the other two are rather difficult to catch and will likely take players some time to actually find.

Luckily, the task of finding Festive Fish is made somewhat easier by the unique bubble color associated with them. Players will know that they have located a Festive Fish when the bubbling fishing spot is red and green instead of its usual other colors.

Once players have found a holiday-colored fishing spot, all they need to do is fish at that spot until they successfully catch whichever Festive Fish is home to that biome. This task will be easy for the three previously mentioned fish, but for the other two, players will need to consider a few variables to successfully catch them.

The Festive Fugu functions just like the regular variant of it and can only be caught in the Dazzle Beach biome while it is raining. This means that to catch this fish, all players can do is continuously load up Disney Dreamlight Valley until they find that it is raining, at which point they should rush to the beach and scour the shores for the tricky Festive Fugu.

The regular Anglerfish is already rather difficult to catch in Disney Dreamlgiht Valley and its festive counterpart is perhaps even more tricky. The Festive Anglerfish can only be found in the Forgotten Lands biome and some players have reported that it seems to have a better chance of appearing at night, but whether this is factually true is unclear.

There is no confirmed way that players can increase the chances of the rare Festive Anglerfish spawning, so players will simply want to check back regularly and fish as much as they can in the hopes that a regular fishing spot will be replaced by a festive one.

Once all five of the Festive Fish have been caught, players will have completed the special Even Fish Are Festive! task. Completing this task will reward players with a Santa hat that they can wear to show off their holiday spirit.
