Epsilon is the second esports organization to exit Gears esports. This news isn’t surprising to those close to these players, however, with rumors circulating that the team wasn’t satisfied with the organization and wanted to be released. As the best Gears team in Europe, Epsilon dominated the region in the online 2K series, qualifying for pool play at each of the Gears Pro Circuit LAN events. But despite their dominance online, the unit was never quite able to place above top eight on LAN. Heading into the second season of the Gears Pro Circuit, the core lineup of Will “Phelpzy” Phelps, Mathew “Krazed” Macdonald, Ben “Hydrone” Cornwell, Sam King, and Jay “jRage” Mcmanus will remain together as they search for a new organization to represent. As the reigning kings of Europe, this roster probably won’t have any problems finding a new home. But with Epsilon and Team EnVyUs both retiring from Gears esports, questions about the health of the game’s ecosystem and growth are beginning to surface. Gears esports fans are definitely hoping to see more organizations enter the scene in the upcoming season, and it will be interesting to see where Epsilon’s former lineup ends up.
