Virtus Pro is the latest team to take the plunge on Fortnite: Battle Royale esports.
Artur “7ssk7” Kyourshin and Jamal “Jamside” Saidayev will represent the popular Russian organization in its newest game. Their contracts extend until the end of 2019, according to the VP press release.
Joining the likes of Fnatic and Team Secret in the Fortnite scene, Virtus Pro’s newest lineup will likely attempt to compete in the Fortnite World Cup. That tournament will feature some of the best pairs from around the world, and will launch later in the year.
Virtus Pro’s teams have seen great success in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, with the latter looking to be one of the strongest teams heading into The International 8 next month after winning several events in the past year.
Despite their lack of accomplishments, Virtus Pro seems to have great confidence in their newest team.
“Our team’s arrival to Fortnite and the corresponding preparations were planned and in motion for quite a long time,” Virtus Pro general manager Roman Dvoryankin said. “We place high hopes both on the discipline itself and on the players we have signed. Artur and Jamal have consistently shown great results in various CIS Skillcustoms even before their arrival to Virtus.pro.”
While the organization has only signed two players, and Epic revealed the inaugural Fortnite World Cup will not feature a Squad competition, VP says it is still open to signing more players.
Whether more players eventuslly enter the fold or not, Virtus Pro will surely hope to have the same success in Fortnite as it had in CS:GO and Dota 2.
