The Chains of Hades, to give Hades’ whip its official name, is capable not only of inflicting heavy damage but also of pulling an opponent close from a long distance away. It’s clearly a powerful weapon, but until now, it seemed like Hades himself was the only one who could wield it. Is there any hope for Fortnite players who dream of one day partaking in some Underworldly whip-crackin’ of their own?

After update 29.01, you can get the Chains of Hades as floor loot, inside God Chests, and by defeating Hades in the Underworld in Fortnite Chapter Five, season two.

The Wings of Icarus and Thunderbolt of Zeus were available from Week 0, but the Chains of Hades only became available on March 19, so you can now whip up a frenzy with this demonic Epic weapon. Its description states:

“A dangerous melee weapon imbued with the power of the underworld. A long-range hookshot allows the wielder to rip enemies into range of its devastating attack combo.”

Just like the regular Grapple Hook from the previous season, put the Chains of Hades to good use by aiming and pressing the action key or button to deal damage to enemies. Whenever you strike an enemy, the Chains of Hades also pulls them slightly closer to you, which makes it the perfect pairing for the Mythic Cerberus’ Gatekeeper Shotgun.
