Fortnite’s 7.10 update dropped today, despite developer Epic Games saying last night it would need to delay it for at least a day.
Fortunately for Fortnite fans, this now surprise update brings back several old Limited Time Modes in the special event 14 Days of Fortnite, as well Heavy Assault Rifle changes, improvements for Balloons, and several gameplay adjustments and bug fixes.
14 Days of Fortnite
This new event will bring the Holidays to Fortnite. The map will receive a small makeover and items like the Grenade Launcher will have a different appearance.
Also, 14 Days of Fortnite will “feature both new and returning LTMs,” according to Epic. For 14 days, Fortnite players will be able to play several Limited Time Modes that will rotate in and out during that period. Big team modes like 50v50 and Team Rumble will last two days, while small team modes such as those with Squads will last one.
The event debuts tomorrow at 8 am CT. Epic is yet to announce which modes will kick off 14 Days of Fortnite.
Weapon and Item changes
The Heavy Assault Rifle received adjustments to make it weaker while shooting without aiming down sights. Its base accuracy has been reduced, but the aim down sights accuracy has increased along with the weapon’s recoil.
No other weapons were vaulted, added, or changed.
Gameplay changes
The promised X-4 Stormwing plane explosion damage increase from 25 to 50 was implemented in 7.10. The plane now also takes more damage from destroying structures when flying through them, which will reduce its overall demolition power. No bug fixes for the plane were noted.
Ziplines were also full of bugs, which should now be mostly fixed after eight modifications Epic made to this new map element. They should be more reliable from now on.
Events
The Explorer Pop-Up Cups material caps are back to 500/500/500 instead of the current 700/500/300 for wood/stone/metal. Epic added new dates for these cups and Friday Night Fortnite.
The company also made several performance, audio, and user interface changes in the game.
