Epic Games’ Fortnite: Battle Royale is going through issues again with its new update. Unlike last week’s, the 6.21 update that was scheduled to be out today caused problems before it went live. Epic delayed its release until tomorrow, Nov. 1, saying on Twitter it found “a last minute issue” within the new build.
This delay comes after a series of issues that arose on Fortnite since the 6.20 update with the Halloween event Fortnitemares.
On Oct. 24, the day of Fortnitemares’ release, Epic was forced to disable the event due to serious issues with matchmaking across all platforms. The company spent over three hours identifying and solving the problem that forced players to wait too long to find a match. During that period, players couldn’t play Fortnitemares and its new additions, such as the Cube Monsters.
Then on, Oct. 28, an issue within the third set of free challenges of the Fortnitemares event granted players up to 350 Battle Stars instead of experience points. Epic later said this was unintended, fixed the issue, and let players keep what they earned due to that bug.
A day later, Epic found that players were massively reporting a bug within the Zoey outfit that caused players using it to be invisible at medium and long distances. The outfit is disabled and the company is still working on a fix.
Finally, on Oct. 30, when the last set of Fortnitemares challenges was released, players weren’t able to complete all of them since the last challenge was bugged. Challenges from the previous three sets of the event weren’t counted for the final challenge (Complete 14 Fortnitemares Challenges), which would grant players the final reward of the event, the Dark Engine glider. Epic fixed that issue later that day.
Epic has not explained what caused the issue with the 6.21 update or if there is a common cause for all the recent issues players have been facing when playing Fortnite.
