Epic Games released a small Fortnite: Battle Royale client update today at 5am CT to “fix some issues that appeared after releasing the v8.40 update” on Wednesday, April 17.
Most of the issues that Epic resolved were minor bug fixes—but the Fortnite community will still be happy to know that the developer is vigorously trying to improve the state of the game.

Some of the issues addressed in the battle royale mode included fixing a problem with Blackheart’s beard “growing uncontrollably in the Deep Friend Food Fight LTM” and the Bush item not showing up in any game modes after playing Air Royale LTM.
In addition, Epic fixed a problem where “throwable items were not dealing damage if it was the last item consumed in a stack” and the developer corrected the Item Shop countdown. Stability improvements were also made to Fortnite’s Creative mode.
It doesn’t seem like there were any major alterations made in this minor update, but at least Epic addressed some of the inconveniences that have plagued the game recently. You can check out the full patch notes for v8.40.1 on Epic’s website.
