Epic has confirmed that the Open Qualifiers start on April 13 in all Fortnite official regions, which are North America East, North America West, Europe, Asia, Brazil, and Oceania. Players will be able to compete for a spot in the Fortnite World Cup in three stages.

Stages of Open Qualifiers

The first stage is the Arena Mode, which will always be available starting with the v8.20 update that will be released this week. Epic wrote that players can “compete on their own schedule to try and progress to the Champion League,” which will then allow them to unlock the second stage of the qualifiers, the Fortnite World Cup Online Open tournaments.

The Online Open tournaments will run every Saturday, and all players qualified from the Arena Mode will be eligible to play in them. They’ll have three hours to score as many points as they can in up to 10 matches. The top 3,000 players in each region move up to the final stage, the Open Finals on Sundays.

Every Sunday, the top players in each region will also have to play up to 10 matches in a three-hour window to score as many points as they can. After this time window is closed, Epic will verify which players are eligible to receive prize money and will inform them how much they earned from the total $1 million prize pool of that week.

Schedule and scoring

The Open Qualifiers will run for 10 weeks in total, alternating between Solo and Duos tournaments. Weeks one, three, five, seven, and nine will be Solo tournaments, while weeks two, four, six, eight, and 10 will be Duos tournaments. All of them will award players a share of the $1 million prize pool of that week, and the shares have yet to be announced.

Scoring will vary between Solo and Duos tournaments as shown in the table below.
