In LEGO Fortnite, the world around you can be broken down into materials used for building tools and structures. But what happens to the resources like trees or stone after you break them down?

With so much to build, you’ll need to know if you can count on the environment around you to provide plenty of resources.

Do trees respawn in LEGO Fortnite?

Yes, trees will respawn in LEGO Fortnite. In fact, after only one in-game day, the trees you’ve chopped down will respawn exactly where they once stood. For the most part, anyway. Some users have seen that a select few trees won’t respawn, but this is a rare occurrence that’s likely due to a bug.

In fact, some players feel that the trees shouldn’t always respawn in the same spots they started in, as trees will regrow inside of players buildings that were placed over the trees’ original spots. If you decide to plant trees of your own, they too will respawn where they are planted if you chop them down. So don’t worry! You’ll have plenty of trees around to maintain a steady supply of wood!

Tip:

If you want to avoid having a tree regrowing through your living room floor in LEGO Fortnite, you can use a shovel to dig up the sapling at the tree’s base so that it stops respawning. Ta-da!

Does Knotroot respawn in LEGO Fortnite?

Knotroot does respawn, but it takes a long time. Players aren’t exactly sure when Knotroot will respawn, but after you’ve spent a few in-game days doing other things, it should repopulate the caves in which it was originally found. It should, but that doesn’t mean it will. Plenty of other players have stated that their Knotroot supplies have never replenished. This is likely another bug for Epic Games to hopefully squish sometime in the future. Sadly, if yours isn’t respawning, you’ll have to find Knotroot somewhere else.

Much like the cave resource Knotroot, additional cave resources in LEGO Fortnite can respawn. However, also like Knotroot, there are many accounts from players saying that their cave resources won’t respawn. The key is to busy yourself with other tasks for several in-game days, and pay the cave a visit to see if it has repopulated its resources.

If a cave isn’t respawning its resources for you, then the unfortunate truth is that you’ll have to go find caves elsewhere for your spelunking adventures.

Most common resources sources will frequently respawn, and they can come back in greater numbers if you manually plant or add them back to the world after you harvest them. It’s essentially impossible for you to lose access to basics like wood, granite, and food while you’re playing.

Containers like supply crates and chests that you find in ruined structures, though, will not replenish with new items. Once they are looted, they will stay empty, but the crate itself can be broken down into wood.

Tip:

Even though resources replenish, building a village near a forest edge can help you access trees and stone more easily and regularly.

Additionally, mobs like spiders, skeletons, and rollers will also respawn, with skeletons in particular popping up all around you during the nighttime. These creatures will provide plenty of resources needed for upgrades like bones, web, and shells.

How to maximize resource gathering in LEGO Fortnite

For basic wood and granite, make sure to keep your head down and prioritize the individual pieces on the ground while exploring and looting. It may seem tedious, but there are quite a lot of individual pieces, and they don’t cost you tool durability.

Speaking of tools, you should also make a point to upgrade your crafting station and get uncommon tools since the basic tools will break on you very quickly and end up costing you more materials just to make more.
