A new rumor floating around the internet seems to allude to the return of some of the biggest and best modes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The information, which comes from Source Gaming, was revealed by a dataminer who found files within Ultimate that seems to reference new modes coming to the game in a future update, including fan-favorite Home Run Contest and the Stage Builder options.
Files such as “howtoplay_stage_builder.html” found in the datamine clearly reference potential modes that could be added to the game in the future. The code in question was found in the “How to Play” section of Ultimate’s main menu. This menu is used to showcase videos on how to play parts of the game—so it makes sense that similar videos would be made for new modes coming to the game in the future.
The next major update that’s planned to be released over the next few months is the big 3.0.0 patch, which Nintendo has promised will add a bunch of new things to the game, including the next DLC character—Joker, from Persona 5.
Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt until Nintendo officially unveils the potential modes.
