Despite being an extension of Bethesda’s 2015 hit RPG, Fallout 4, the Fallout London mod garnered a lot of attention—but many players aren’t having a smooth experience. If you have been facing crashing issues, you certainly aren’t alone.

While it’s common for crashing issues to pop up right after a game launches, the London mod’s current condition has left the Fallout 4 community impressed and annoyed. It’s a great mod, thanks to the team of professional modders behind the idea and development, but many players have been unable to enjoy the experience because the mod frequently stops working after loading up.

If you face the same problem, don’t worry—we’ll help you work around the Fallout London crashing issues.

A game can crash due to multiple reasons, ranging from internal hiccups to interruptions on the player’s side.

In the case of Fallout London, players have reported being unable to progress after the train cutscene as the mod crashes to their desktop screen immediately after. One player reported the game sent them to the Windows setup screen, which sounds pretty concerning. Thankfully, there’s a fix (via Status_Jellyfish_213 on Reddit):

  1. Download the Buffout 4 mod from Nexus Mods into the Fallout 4 folder on your PC. When prompted, do not download any additional files with Buffout 4, as the game already has them installed. Click on the green Manual Download button and then the green Download button again.
  2. Now, inside the Buffout 4 zip folder, look for another folder named F4SE. Keep this handy as you open the Fallout 4 (not Fallout London) folder and look for a folder named F4SE. Replace the F4SE folder in the Fallout 4 folder with the F4SE folder from the Buffout 4 zip you just downloaded.
  3. Finally, open the Fallout 4 folder and look for the f4se_loader .exe file. You must launch the mod using this file, so adding a shortcut to your desktop might be a good idea.
  4. When you are ready to launch the mod, right-click on the .exe file and select Run as administrator. Or, you can change the launcher’s compatibility settings to always run as administrator from the Properties menu.

After implementing this workaround in Fallout London, you should be able to progress beyond the train cutscene. But this isn’t the only time crashing is an issue—players have also been facing a similar crash because of the Weapon Debris setting. We recommend downloading this mod to help fix that anomaly.

If you are still crashing out of Fallout London after trying the workarounds, we recommend restarting your system—doing this has fixed residual hiccups for many players. Also, ensure you abide by all the requirements to run the mod as announced by the developer. If you have yet to download the mod, check out our detailed installation guide.
