Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed penalty against Slovenia caused the Portuguese icon to shed tears, but now he has two reasons to smile: Portugal is in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals and Ronaldo’s new Path to Glory card has pushed him level with Leo Messi in terms of EA FC 24 OVR rating.

The rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo was at the forefront of FIFA ratings for more than a decade, with the legends trading places as the highest-rated player in the series from year to year. The EA FC 24 tie appeared to be settled with Messi being the winner, but Ronaldo has crept right back in with a midsummer blockbuster of a card.

Ronaldo is the face of the Path to Glory The Knockouts release in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team, with his 97 OVR only matched by Germany’s Kai Havertz. More importantly for CR7 fans, this new card is the best one he’s received all season long and allows him to match Messi’s three separate 97-rated cards.

The dynamic nature of Path to Glory cards also means team success for Portugal could push Ronaldo above Messi right at the end of the FUT season. That’s one more reason to root for CR7 in his last European Championship, as long as you can snatch his PTG card.
