Chong “Ohaiyo” Xin Khoo has reportedly been removed from LGD.Forever Young’s active roster.
MarsTV’s director of events Dimitri “GodBlessMali” Vallette tweeted the news earlier today, implying that Ohaiyo had no choice in the team’s decision to drop him. Valve social media manager Wykrhm “Wyk” Reddy confirmed the roster change in his own tweet.
He “Inflame” Yongzheng, who was with LFY during their run at the International 7 last year, is returning to the squad in replacement of Ohaiyo.
This is the second time in just two months that Ohaiyo will find himself teamless. He was released from former team Fnatic in mid-January this year. He criticized this move heavily at the time, pointing out that his replacement, Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora, had allegedly signed before he was told he would be kicked.
Ohaiyo joined LFY just a little over a month ago, but failed to post any inspiring results in his short stint with the Chinese team. Most notably, the squad bombed out of the PGL Bucharest Major just last week, where they went 0-3 in the Swiss format group stage.
This does mean, however, that LFY will now have to go through the Open Qualifiers for TI8, per Valve’s rules on rosters for the Pro Circuit. Since the roster lock is already in place, LFY’s lineup change thus renders them ineligible for invites to the Chinese regional qualifiers.
It’s obvious that they’re willing to take the risk, though, as long as it means that Inflame can play for them again.
