Valve has dropped Patch 7.37c, and with less than a week to The Internationals 2024, this seems to be the update 2024’s most prestigious Dota 2 event will be played on.

Similar to previous Dota 2 letter patches, 7.37c too only touches some numbers rather than introducing reworks and other major changes. As we already know though, these small balance tweaks can be enough to shuffle up the status quo. So, it’ll be interesting to see how the metagame shapes as we head into TI.

Here’s everything included in Dota 2 Patch 7.37c.

Mekansm, Pipe nerfs hurt early group-up comps

The slight nerfs to Mekansm and Guardian Greaves’ heal amount will hurt Dota 2 offlaners and support players who used to rush the items to group up with teammates and take down objectives to gain map control. This will also potentially push the viability of Blink Dagger-rushing Offlaners like Axe and Sand King. The latter will especially like the Barrier nerf for Pipe of Insight, which was another top item enabling the aura meta.

Gleipnir nerfs bring top meta carries in line

Prior to Patch 7.37c, the Dota 2 metagame was mainly dominated by heroes like Lina and Windranger in the carry role, and what pushed these non-traditional carries into such prominence was an arguably overpowered item—Gleipnir.

Now, with Gleipnir’s health bonus decreased from 350 to 300 and the active’s damage reduced from 180 to 165, heroes rushing the item will be slightly weaker. Coupled that with the fact both Lina and Windranger were targeted with individual nerfs and we’ll hopefully see a more diverse carry meta at The International in 2024.

Save supports hit with targeted nerfs; Treant unscathed

The Position Five role has been dominated by save-oriented support heroes like Omniknight, Tinker, Treant Protector, and Abaddon. With the exception of Tree, every hero that falls under that umbrella has now been subjected to the nerfhammer in Patch 7.37c.

This will most likely propel the likes of Bane, Crystal Maiden, and Disruptor into prominence in Dota 2 play. While quite niche, Naga Siren support also flew under the radar for some time, so we may now see her becoming a menace.

Ringmaster nerfed after overtuned launch week

Although not part of Captain’s mode (and thus not available for TI), Ringmaster has also seen a barrage of nerfs headed his way a week into his launch. With a base movement reduction along with nerfs to Strongman Tonic, Wheel of Wonder, and his Aghanim Shard ability Spotlight, Ringmaster will hopefully stop being a pub menace.
