Sea Snails are one of the new types of ‘fish’ players can catch in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s first expansion, A Rift in Time. You can use it as an ingredient in one of the many recipes added in this expansion or eat it raw. Thankfully, getting them is a cinch.
Where to find Sea Snails in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Sea Snails can be fished from the ‘blue pools‘ in two areas of the Eternity Isle in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Overlook and The Docks. The Docks is the first area you enter upon reaching the Eternity Isle, so you don’t need to unlock this area. It’s the easiest area to start fishing for Sea Snails.
You must have the A Rift in Time expansion to access the Eternity Isle.
However, if you want to unlock The Overlook, you will need 6,000 Mist. But it’s unnecessary to do so right away to get Sea Snails. This is because Mist is a new currency for the Eternity Isle, so it will take time to get 6,000 Mist, and it can be better spent on upgrading your Royal Tools and unlocking the more essential areas.
So, for now, it’s easier to get Sea Snails at The Docks.
How to get Sea Snails in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To get Sea Snails in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to have a fishing pole and located a ‘blue ripple.
The Fishing Rod is one of the Royal Tools you get after completing Merlin’s quest, The Royal Tools, and you can access them using RT (Xbox and PlayStation), ZR (Nintendo Switch), and Tab (PC).
If you don’t see a blue ripple in The Docks or The Overlook, you can either fish all the white ripples until you trigger a blue one to appear or simply return later to see if any blue ripples have spawned.
Once you’ve found a blue ripple, follow these easy steps to get a Sea Snail:
- Select the Fishing Rod from the Royal Tools.
- Cast out your line until it’s in the center of the blue ripple. If you miss, you can always try again.
- When your line is in the center, there will be an initial bite. Use your fishing line to reel it in. Ensure the white ring (the one that’s moving) is inside the stationary white ring before using your fishing tool. The controls for using your fishing tool include:
- Xbox and PlayStation: ‘X’
- Nintendo Switch: ‘Y’
- PC: ‘Right mouse-click’ or ‘spacebar.’
- As this is a blue ripple, you must successfully reel it in three times to get a Sea Snail. If you aren’t sure how to fish, I’ve included a video of catching a Sea Snail below.
The great thing about Disney Dreamlight Valley is that the screen shows which buttons to press to help you reel in your fishing line, and if you mess up, you can always pull out the line and try again.
Once you’ve caught your Sea Snail, you can use it as an ingredient in a new recipe from the A Rift in Time expansion or sell it to earn quick cash. When I first started, I loved to fish because it was a great way to earn extra money. Now, though, I prefer to keep these rare fish in case I need to make more elaborate meals or if I need one to give as a gift.
The Sea Snail can be sold at any of Goofy’s Stalls for 250 Star Coins, so if you catch one, you can make a small profit. Or, if you’re feeling bold, you can always eat it to gain 800 Energy.
Getting Sea Snails may seem daunting at first because it is a new area to explore, and there’s a lot of new content. But as long as you ‘fish’ for the Sea Snails in the blue pools of The Overlook or The Docks, you’ll get Sea Snails in no time.
